If you operate a vehicle while impaired, and in doing so you cause or contribute to causing the death of any human being or unborn child, then you will be charged with DUI Manslaughter. This will enhance your DUI to a 2nd degree felony, punishable by up to 15 years in the Florida State Prison, and by a fine of no more than $10,000.
Florida law requires the driver of any vehicle involved in a crash to render aid to anyone who may be injured. If, at the time of the crash, you knew or should have known that the crash occurred, and you failed to give information and render aid or assistance, then your DUI Manslaughter charge will be enhanced to a 1st degree felony, punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fine of no more than $10,000.
