If, while driving intoxicated, you are accused of causing Serious Bodily Injury to any person, including yourself, then you will be charged with DUI With Serious Bodily Injury. This charge is enhanced to a 3rd degree felony, and you can be sentenced to 5 years in the Florida State Prison and be required to pay a $5,000 fine. 

"Serious Bodily Injury" is defined as:

...an injury to any person, including the driver, which consists of a physical condition that creates a substantial risk of death, serious personal disfigurement, or protracted loss or impairment of the function of any bodily member or organ.

When a law enforcement officer has probable cause to believe that you committed a DUI with Serious Bobily Injury, they can require you to submit to a blood draw. This is to determine your blood alcohol content (BAC), as well as to detect for the presence of any other substances. If necessary, an officer may use reasonable force to require you to submit to a blood draw.
